The EDSA Group®'s existing programs can provide a framework to build customized educational modules. EDSA has hands-on control of all facets of the program curriculum and materials (workbooks, visual aids, and other tools) to allow quick response to clients’ needs.

EDSA has worked in cooperation with a variety of entities in the development of financial education programs.

Helping an Organization to Provide Education to Members
EDSA has worked with a national organization to meet special needs. This organization offers benefits to its members, and wished to capture the retirement rollovers from employees of its member companies. The organization did not wish to do a “sales pitch” program but wanted to provide ongoing financial education to member companies to help the members plan for their future. In the process, the organization felt it could position itself as a resource for financial matters. This organization had used the Money 101™ program, and wished to transition to the Money Basics® program. It required three things: for the program to be customized in certain areas, branded for its organization, and for EDSA to train in-house trainers to instruct the programs. EDSA was able to meet these needs and help the organization to quickly implement the new program.

Assisting a Company with Special Needs
EDSA has worked with a company who had multiple locations – including one in Canada. This company had been providing Money Basics® to its U.S. locations, and wanted to provide something similar at its Canadian location. While most of the basic materials were transferable, there were major differences in retirement plans, taxes, estate planning, educational funding, benefits, and more. In order to meet this company’s needs, EDSA worked with the company, and recruited a Canadian financial professional (utilizing our resources through what was then known as the International Association for Financial Planning – now the Financial Planning Association). Our combined efforts resulted in a successful Canadian program that was well received, and EDSA was invited back for the following two years.

    Partnering to Fill a Need
EDSA has a relationship in place with several companies who wish to provide a resource for financial education. In one instance, an organization had received calls from client companies who sought help in finding a vendor for financial education. This company prides itself in being a solution to its clients, and performed due diligence to determine the financial education provider that they would feel comfortable including in their training catalog that is offered to their client companies. EDSA offered a referral solution that met the needs of their clients, and at the same time allowed the referring company to maintain the “lead role” in the communication with their client company.

Customizing Workshops to Meet Specific Goals
EDSA has worked with a number of companies who required a combination of modules from different workshops to suit the needs of their employee population or a reduced amount of information to suit a desired timeframe. In each instance, using the modules of existing materials, we were able to develop a program to achieve goals. One scenario required that we develop a survey to question the employees about topics that were most important to them. Based on the responses, a special program was developed. In a second situation, a company provided the goals they wished to achieve and invited us to develop and provide a customized program.

Utilizing The Magic of 401(k)® as an Enrollment Tool
While The Magic of 401(k)® is most often utilized as an educational program and offered in its entirety, it has been broken into 2 components and effectively utilized as an enrollment tool. The first chapter, where the “Nuts and Bolts” of a 401(k) plan are discussed, was provided as a part of the enrollment meeting. A second educational session was provided at a later date for those who wish to pursue additional information.
